WTF? Part 2

So I've come to the conclusion that "buying" girls water must have been in some Maxim article or something. It happened again Friday night! After two extremely drunk guys incoherently chatted up my friend and me—and bought us actual drinks—another set offered to buy us ice water with lemon. (I have to admit this is a step up from the room-temperature tap water, however.) I asked one of them what the deal was, and he said we looked like we could use something tart after talking to the other guys... or something like that... I couldn't understand much of what he was saying, beyond that he was in town for some kind of military convention, and he's originally from Idaho. Does the military have conventions? Are all people from Idaho hard to understand? WTF?

Did you accept, laugh? Just wondering if its unexpectedness made any positive impression (other than someone tried it 2 weeks ago too). Would it have been more disarming if the guys said they weren't cheap but didn't want to come off as trying to get you drunk?

I would assume that they were attempting to be, dare I say, gentlemen like. By sliding in the military convention remark, he's also hinting at the obvious. That he's only in town for a little bit. Which might come off to me as yes I'm a gentleman but if your lonely later remember who offered to buy you water. Also I can't understand most people from Idaho, maybe it's something you need to take a class for! No offense to Idaho people...

LOL! A gentlemanly one-nighter proposition would be difficult to pull off, but perhaps a lemon ice water is a good start.

I didn't accept, but I did talk to him for a while, or attempted to, at least. The fact that he had somewhat of a reason for it and didn't order it through a bartender gives him points over the other water guy for sure. The not wanting to get me drunk idea is another good point. I'm always wary of guys who insist on buying shots. Although I'm often the one who's buying shots...
